Wee Park Citizens
Summer 2008
Wee Park Citizens is a series of hands-on educational programs for toddlers presented by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy and Half Pint Citizens. Free “green” arts and crafts for the youngest environmentalists will be offered in the park on Tuesdays, July 8-August 26 from 3:30-4:30. Each week will feature a different educational presentation and arts and crafts activity focusing on the environment, and how we can protect and understand it.
Programs are recommended for children between the ages of 2-5. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited.
Unfortunately, Wee Park Citizens is full for the season. Please call to reserve a spot on our waiting list or try back next year!
Please call or email Naomi at 718-802-0603 x23 or nlore@bbpc.net to reserve a space on the waiting list. When leaving a message, mention Wee Park Citizens, list the program you are interested in attending, how many children will attend, and leave your contact information.

Cove Camp
Summer 2008
COVE camp invites young people to become explorers of a unique ecological and historic enviroment, a place where industry meets the waterfront -- DUMBO. Participants will study the history of the Brooklyn Bridge through a guided tour and interactive activities designed to demonstrate basic physics concepts. Following the tour participants will build model suspension bridges and compete in a scavenger hunt while gaining content knowledge about the history of the city and the effects of the bridge's construction on the five boroughs. Moving from the built to the natural environment, participants will study the East River ecosystem, and conduct water testing in The Cove, a sheltered, rocky but friendly shoreline perfect for experiencing the waterfront as it exsisted more than a century ago. Through these and other activities, participants will gain an understanding of how industry helped shape the waterfront and how the impact of human construction has affected the ecosystem.
