Brooklyn Bridge Park was the site of the "Dunkirk" of the Revolutionary War. George Washington and his troops staged their retreat from here after the Battle of Long Island, one of the first battles of the Revolutionary War.

Spend Summer '08 @ Pier 1!

Pier 1 logoOpen to the public for the first time, Brooklyn Bridge Park's Pier 1 offers spectacular views of New York Harbor and The New York City Waterfalls by Olafur Eliasson, presented by the Public Art Fund. Pier 1 features a cafe run by local restaurant RICE, along with picnic tables, benches, landscaping with trees and grass, and sand play area. The 26,000 square foot site was designed by landscape architects dlandstudio.

Mon-Fri 3pm-10pm; Sat & Sun 10am-10pm.
Through Labor Day, 10am-10pm, every day.

Pier 1 is located on the East River at the base of Old Fulton Street and Furman Street and is accessible by subway via the A/C at High Street, the 2/3 at Clark Street, and the 4/5 at Borough Hall. A free shuttle bus service will run with stops at Borough Hall and High Street at Cadman Plaza West. Shuttle service will operate Fridays 5pm-10:30pm, and Saturdays and Sundays 12pm-10:30pm. 
 
SUMMER '08 @ PIER 1 opens under the partnership of the Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corporation and the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, along with the State of New York and the City of New York. Shuttle operations are provided by the Downtown Brooklyn Waterfront Local Development Corporation with funding by Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez.
