Fun Fact
In 1748, the colonial charters gave New York ownership control of all the waterfront on both sides of the river and therefore received all rent and taxes from the ferry operators. Naturally, Brooklynites disagreed with this arrangement and an angry mob burned the Brooklyn ferry house to the ground.

Brooklyn Philharmonic Presents Baroque Meets Tango!

FREE! The Brooklyn Philharmonic enters its 52nd season under the baton of new Music Director Michael Christie, the fifth conductor in that role since the founding of the Philharmonic. On July 13, the Brooklyn Philharmonic will present Baroque Meets Tango! – a combination of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with the Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, composed by Piazzolla and featuring violin soloist Lara St. John. Performance will take place on the lawn of the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park section of the Brooklyn Bridge Park.
