Fun Fact
In 1704, Ferry Road to Fulton Ferry Landing was laid out and soon became the principal road in the Brooklyn for farmers bringing their produce and livestock to Manhattan. The fare was 1/48th of a dollar and passengers had to share the ride with cattle, chickens, pigs, sheep, and other game. Farmers could pay their fare in kind.

Get psyched for SUNSET PSYCHEDELIC -- this year on Pier 5 in the future Brooklyn Bridge Park! Come celebrate the beginning of park construction and help kick-off a summer of fun on the waterfront. The party is rain or shine -- but we're predicting shine!

Sunset Psychedelic 250Get your groove on with Mayor Michael Bloomberg who will be joining us as a special guest. And we'll be honoring park champions Marianna Koval, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, and the SCI FI Channel.

This year, for the first time, party goers will celebrate on Pier 5 at the foot of Joralemon Street! Come get a taste of the spectacular views and waterfront vibe of the next section of Brooklyn Bridge Park, opening later this year.

Sunset Psychedelic will transform Pier 5 into a festive hotspot with an Age of Aquarius groove. Brooklyn Radio's DJ Soulstatic will spin the Beatles, Hendrix, the Stones, the Temptations, and the Dead. Chalk artist Ellis G will set the scene while Jordana Toback's choreography will inspire some psychedelic dancing.

Culinary impresarios Food in Motion will be back on the scene with butlered munchies and snappy cocktails. Dig into mini burgers and shrimp kebabs, blue corn cups, mini falafels, and fried chicken on brioche. Embark on your own magical mystery tour with the Tequila Pink Grapefruit Sunset.

And don't forget the kids! Half Pint Citizens will be on hand to provide face and pet rock painting, hacky sack, chalk drawing, and entertainment for the smallest revelers. Kids of all ages can take part in a peace drum circle led by the rad musicians from Wonderground and enjoy storytelling from authors of the colorful Custard and Mustard.

And while you're sipping your Tequila Sunset, be sure to check out the silent auction. Here's a preview of some of the groovy items that will be on the block:

Vacation homes - From two weeks in Brittany to a weekend on the Hudson, we'll help you plan your summer (with stops in Mexico, Key West, and Santa Fe).

Great seats - Enjoy a Broadway show (tickets for Tony nominees "Hair" and "Shrek" can be yours) or catch up with your favorite team (Mets, Jets, and Cyclones, oh my!).

And more - A harbor tour on the NY Water Taxi, our popular dinner with Marty, a state-of-the-art bicycle with a private Brooklyn Greenway bike tour, lobsters for eight, and a cocktail party for 25 are just some of the amazing items that will all be under one tent.  Don't miss it!

Good karma! Proceeds from Sunset Psychedelic support the Conservancy's free public programming in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Be there or be square!

Note: there is no parking onsite. There is a public parking garage approximately one block away on the south side of 360 Furman Street -- One Brooklyn Bridge Park.

If you can’t make it, please consider a donation to show your support for a world-class park on the Brooklyn waterfront.  Sunset Psychedelic is our most important fundraising event of the year and helps the Conservancy bring free public programming, special events and the Green Team to Brooklyn Bridge Park.
