Fun Fact
In 1704, Ferry Road to Fulton Ferry Landing was laid out and soon became the principal road in the Brooklyn for farmers bringing their produce and livestock to Manhattan. The fare was 1/48th of a dollar and passengers had to share the ride with cattle, chickens, pigs, sheep, and other game. Farmers could pay their fare in kind.

10th Annual Liberty World Outrigger Competition
Saturday, Jun 30, 2007 - All Day

Take front row seats in Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park or the Main Street section of Brooklyn Bridge Park for the 10th Annual Liberty World Challenge. Teams from across the globe will start from the East River and race a course on the New York Harbor.

One of the largest sporting events in New York Harbor and one of the premier outrigger canoe races in the world, the day long competition hosts hundreds of international paddlers and represents the best of the Aloha spirit. Prior Liberty Competitions have brought together men's, women's and mixed teams from Tahiti, Sweden, Germany, Canada, Hawaii and the East and West coast of the United States.
