Fun Fact
The plants around the park cove, put in place by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, include many native coastal species. The plants were intentionally chosen to provide highly diversified feeding and nesting habitats for birds, and to attract pollinators, especially butterflies.

The Illyria Theatre Production of Andromache, by Euripides

All shows begin at 7 pm
Tobacco Warehouse in Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park

Euripides, one of the three great tragedians of classic Greek drama, is known as the father of the psychological drama and has been celebrated as an acute observer of human nature.  In Andromache, he explored the schism between two cultures, the morality of gods and the roles of women as wives, mothers and victims of war.  This play shows the fate of Hector’s wife, Andromache (played by Nicole Schiro), as the slave of Neoptolemus to whom she bears a child. Neoptolemus, the son of Achilles, is married to Hermione, who, filled with jealousy and rage, threatens to murder Andromache.

Recently founded by a group of theatre, film and education professionals, Illyria Theatre advances fresh formats for artistic expression in live performance and develops new audiences by making theatre accessible and intriguing to people of all backgrounds.

Brian Lady directs this production, which features performances by Nicole Schiro, Sarah Paige, Adam Belvo, Gerard Adimando, Amelia Henderson, Nick Gorham, Tom Rothacker, Heather Rogers, Irene Antoniazzi, Olivia Baseman, Roy Fialkow, Vincent Iannuzzi, Carrie James, Yessinia Tromp and Tracy Walsch.  Set design is by Sarah Kirchner.State Parks Logo
