Fun Fact
In 1704, Ferry Road to Fulton Ferry Landing was laid out and soon became the principal road in the Brooklyn for farmers bringing their produce and livestock to Manhattan. The fare was 1/48th of a dollar and passengers had to share the ride with cattle, chickens, pigs, sheep, and other game. Farmers could pay their fare in kind.

Movies With a View presents Strangers on a Train
Thursday, Jul 20, 2006

Straingers on a TrainSo many of us have traveled that familiar train route between NY and DC and some of us may even flirt with romantic notions of meeting an intriguing stranger on that journey. This movie is a warning against any such notions, however, as the two strangers in this story end up in a murderous plot together.

Guy Haines, played by Farley Granger, a famous tennis pro divulges a secret desire for the death of his estranged wife to Bruno Anthony played by Guy Walker when they meet on the train. Anthony offers to kill Haines’ wife if he kills Anthony’s father in exchange. Haines believes Anthony to be kidding until his wife turns up murdered and he is the prime suspect, he spends the rest of the movie rushing around, trying to clear his name

According to film critic, Robert Ebert, one of Hitchcock’s worst fears was being accused of a crime he didn’t commit. Those of us who have, in fact, had to take the train from NY to DC may have come close. Come join us for this classic thriller, on a train, under the Bridge.
