Kids of of all ages are invited to the 4th Annual...

The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation invite kids of all ages to the 4th Annual Spring Fling Egg Hunt in Brooklyn Bridge Park. The festive Egg Hunt begins at 11:00 a.m. at the Main Street entrance to Brooklyn Bridge Park and Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park. All festivities are FREE.

Volunteers, including the DUMBO Parents Association and the DUMBO Improvement District, will get to work early Saturday morning hiding over 15,000 multi-colored, candy-filled eggs. The Egg Hunt will spread across the city section of Brooklyn Bridge Park and the adjoining Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park, with separate hunting areas for older and younger children.

The Brooklyn Bridge Park Bunny will make a special appearance to cheer on the search. Spring Fling Egg Hunt will be held rain or shine.  Click here for directions.

Borough President Marty Markowitz will throw open the gates, and the Brooklyn Bridge Park Bunny will cheer on the young hunter-gatherers as they embark on their search. Ten children who find specially-hidden Golden Eggs will receive prize baskets from Jacques Torres. Other lucky eggs will contain prizes from Half Pint Citizens, a local children’s store.

Audra RoxHeadlining the afternoon’s fun will be musical artist AudraRox, a high-energy kid-rock band that performs insightful, original songs tackling everything from lost shoes and broken toys to sugar highs and short attention spans with a wry wit that appeals equally to children and their parents. Singer/songwriter and music educator Audra Tsanos has been rocking out with New York City families for the past eight years.

Between musical sets, local theatre group The Heights Players will perform scenes from their upcoming children’s shows; and familiar Brooklyn personalities, including Councilman Bill de Blasio, will read children’s stories. Kids can make animal masks with educators from the Brooklyn Children’s Museum and build cardboard "Redbird" subway cars with the New York Transit Museum. The Brooklyn Public Library will also be on hand to sign up children and adults for library cards.

Hijinx PuppetryAnd there's more! Kids who are waiting to get their faces painted at the Half Pint Citizens tent will be entertained by cool puppets from Hijinx.

Equinox Fitness Centers will get kids moving and give away yo-yos, Frisbees, beach balls, and balloons. National Grid/KeySpan will provide kites for kids to fly in the city park.

Spring Fling Egg Hunt is presented by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy in partnership with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and the Natural Heritage Trust, along with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, and the Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corporation. Ongoing support is provided by Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez, NYS Senator Martin Connor, NYS Senator Marty Golden, NYS Assemblywoman Joan Millman, Borough President Marty Markowitz, NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn, NYC Council Member Bill de Blasio, and NYC Council Member David Yassky, and the Brooklyn delegation of the New York City Council.
