Brooklyn Bridge Park Announces Four New Park Concessionaires
Brooklyn Bridge Park (BBP) today announced four new concessionaires to operate in the Pier 5, Pier 6 and Fulton Ferry Landing/DUMBO sections of the park. The new concessionaires, Luke’s Lobster, No. 7 Sub, Ample Hills Creamery and Fornino -The Art & Science of Pizza, will begin operating this summer. The Smokestack Building, under the Brooklyn Bridge, will feature a joint operation by Luke’s Lobster and No. 7 Sub. Operating the Pier 6 restaurant space will be Fornino-The Art & Science of Pizza, while Ample Hills Creamery will operate the new concession stand located at Pier 5 for the 2013 spring/summer season. We are also pleased to announce the return of park concessions Calexico Carne Asada, Blue Marble Ice Cream, and Brooklyn Bridge Wine Bar. Smorgasburg will also be returning to the park in April with their weekly food market at the Tobacco Warehouse.

Park visitors can choose from a variety of food choices from some of the City’s most notable restaurateurs.”

“Ample Hills Creamery takes its name from Walt Whitman's Crossing Brooklyn Ferry,” said owner Brian Smith. “We're thrilled to play a part in BBP's historic venture down by the river-front, where Whitman's spirit still thrives, watching the seagulls, and waiting for a scoop of our home-made ice cream.”

The Smokestack Building will feature a joint operation by Luke’s Lobster and No. 7 Sub. In addition to their award-winning lobster rolls, Luke’s Lobster will sell a variety of food options including grilled cheese sandwiches and gluten-free soups. Working alongside Luke’s Lobster in the Smokestack Building will be No. 7 Sub, an offshoot of No. 7 restaurant in Fort Greene. The sandwich shop will offer unique options such as Turkey Meatloaf, Zucchini Parm, and Roasted Delicata Squash. No. 7 Sub will also offer cold-pressed juices and breakfast sandwiches to serve our early morning park visitors. Both concessionaires will operate seven days a week.
Ample Hills Creamery, the famed Brooklyn ice creamery known for their one-of-a-kind flavors such as Salted Cracked Caramel and Butter Pecan Brittle, will begin operating in the new Pier 5 concession building on Memorial Day weekend. Ample Hills Creamery will offer a sampling of eight flavors of ice cream and a variety of beverages, baked goods, and snacks. Ample Hills Creamery will be open seven days a week for the 2013 spring/summer season with extended hours on the weekends.
Fornino-The Art & Science of Pizza, the Williamsburg-based pizza restaurant, will take over the Pier 6 restaurant space formerly occupied by Bark Hot Dogs. Fornino will provide a multifaceted food establishment serving wood fired pizza, boccacino sandwiches, as well as frozen yogurt, snacks, and beverages. Fornino will also serve beer on the rooftop beer garden.
Returning concessions include Brooklyn Bridge Wine Bar, Blue Marble Ice Cream, and Calexico Carne Asada. Brooklyn Bridge Wine Bar will resume regular hours this summer at their location on Pier 1. Blue Marble Ice Cream will operate Thursdays and weekends from their mobile cart on Pier 1. Calexico Carne Asada will move their mobile cart to its new location at Plymouth and Main Streets in the DUMBO section of the park.
In addition to the new concessionaires, BBP will welcome Smorgasburg back to the park on April 7th. Smorgasburg was a great addition to the park’s calendar of events last year and we look forward to having them back. This will mark the second year that Smorgasburg will be in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Brooklyn Bridge Park has established itself as one of the most vibrant and beautiful public spaces in New York City, drawing thousands of people to the Brooklyn waterfront to take in the world class views of the Lower Manhattan skyline, the harbor and the Brooklyn Bridge. Since opening in 2010, BBP has captured the diversity and originality of local fare by selecting fresh and innovative restaurant concessions such as Ditch Plains Drop-In, Milk Truck, Bark Hot Dogs, and Uncle Louie G’s.
Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation, known as Brooklyn Bridge Park, is the not-for-profit entity responsible for the planning, construction, maintenance and operation of Brooklyn Bridge Park, an 85-acre sustainable waterfront park stretching 1.3 miles along Brooklyn’s East River shoreline.
