Jazzmobile Presents Randy Weston at Brooklyn Bridge Park on Tuesday, August 2nd

Free concert on Pier 1's Harbor View Lawn at 7:00pm

Brooklyn Bridge Park (BBP) is pleased to welcome the esteemed Jazzmobile, the pioneer mobile music presenter, and Brooklyn’s own Randy Weston. This is Jazzmobile’s inaugural program at Brooklyn Bridge Park. Randy Weston, the legendary pianist, composer and bandleader, was born in Brooklyn and resides here now. This much celebrated jazz great has toured the globe with his African-inspired American jazz.

Randy Weston was bestowed the National Endowment of the Arts Jazz Master honor in 2001. He recently released a live compilation entitled "The Storyteller" with his African Rhythms Sextet at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

The concert will be held on Tuesday, August 2nd at 7:00pm on Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 1 Harbor View lawn. Attendees can take the A train to High Street, the 2/3 to Clark Street or the F train to York Street and enter Pier 1 at the foot of Old Fulton Street. Park concessions will be available including Calexico Carne Asada, Ditch Plains Drop-In, the Brooklyn Bridge Wine Bar and Blue Marble Ice Cream.

The Honorable Letitia James, the New York City Councilmember representing the 35th District, said "I am delighted that the inaugural program of Jazzmobile will feature the world renowned - Brooklyn son Randy Weston. Musical history will be made in the great borough of Brooklyn next Tuesday and I thank Jazzmobile for their numerous cultural contributions throughout the years. I look forward to being moved in every way by the African-inspired American jazz music, as well as spending time at the wonderful Brooklyn Bridge Park alongside fellow jazz lovers."
