Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy RFP Press Release

Brooklyn Bridge Park Selects New Concession at Pier 5

December 14, 2019

by Brooklyn Bridge Park on Dec 13, 2019

Brooklyn Bridge Park (BBP) announced the selection of OddFellows Ice Cream for the concession stand at Pier 5. OddFellows Ice Cream will begin operating the space serving ice cream in time for the 2020 season. The Pier 5 space was previously occupied by Ample Hills Creamery, whose lease concludes at the end of 2019. The selection is the result of a public Request for Proposals (RFP) process seeking food and beverage concessions for the Pier 5 concession building.

OddFellows, known for their more than 500 small batch flavors inspired by classic American standards and global tastes, will offer a rotating selection of ice cream flavors, sorbet, and vegan options. OddFellows will be open seven days a week seasonally at Brooklyn Bridge Park.

“We are excited to welcome OddFellows to Brooklyn Bridge Park. Ice cream is a proven complement to the grills at the nearby Picnic Peninsula. We look forward to OddFellows joining our fabulous group of food partners at the Park.” said Brooklyn Bridge Park President Eric Landau.

“We’re thrilled to bring OddFellows to an iconic and dynamic location! We look forward to being part of this community and creating lasting and delicious memories. Ice cream with a view is pretty much the best thing, and this is the best there is in New York City” says Mohan Kumar, Co-Founder of OddFellows. “A huge thank you to Brooklyn Bridge Park for believing in us. We are excited to work together for the next 10 years and hopefully beyond.”

About Brooklyn Bridge Park
Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation, known as Brooklyn Bridge Park (BBP), is the not-for-profit entity responsible for the planning, construction, maintenance and operation of Brooklyn Bridge Park, an 85-acre sustainable waterfront park spanning 1.3 miles along Brooklyn’s East River shoreline. As steward of the park, BBP has transformed this previously deteriorated stretch of waterfront into a world-class park where the public can gather, play, relax and enjoy sweeping views of New York Harbor. The self-sustaining park was designed by the award-winning firm of Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, Inc. and features expansive lawns, rolling hills, waterfront promenades, innovative playgrounds, a greenway, sports facilities and the popular Jane’s Carousel. BBP serves thousands of people on any given seasonal day, who come to picnic, walk their dog, play soccer, jog, bike or roller skate. Brooklyn Bridge Park is a signature public investment for the 21st Century and will be an enduring legacy for the communities, elected officials and public servants who made it happen.
