Movies With A View FAQs

  • What is playing this summer?

Planning for the 2023 Movies With A View series is currently underway. Stay tuned as announcements are made in the late spring to early summer – subscribe to our email list to be the first to know!

  • Is registration required to attend?

All MWAV nights will be open to the public, first come, first served – no advanced registration is required. We recommend arriving early to claim your spot on the lawn when doors open at 6pm.

  • Is Movies With A View free?

Yes, Movies With a View is free. If you would like to support the Conservancy’s work providing New Yorkers with hundreds of free and low cost events and activities like Movies With A View, consider making a donation here.

  • When should I come?

Food and music start at 5:00 PM on the Pier 1 Promenade, the lawn opens at 6:00 PM, and movies begin at sundown (around 8:30pm). We recommend arriving early to move through bag check, stake out a good spot, and take in the spectacular skyline!

  • Where is Movies With A View located?

At Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 1 Harbor View Lawn. Entrances are at the top of the lawn and along Pier 1 Promenade. Visit here for directions

  • Will food and drinks be available for purchase?

Yes! This year, we’re partnering with Smorgasburg to bring in sweet treats, savory snacks, and drinks — including beer and wine — to the movies. Check back for the 2023 vendor line-up.

  • Can I bring my own food?

Of course. Feel free to bring in your own food, but outside alcohol and glass is still prohibited on the lawn. To that end, be advised that bag checks will be conducted at the entrance.

  • Why is there a bag check?

Outside alcohol and glass bottles have always been prohibited in the Park. With food and drink options from Smorgasburg, we want to remind you of this policy in order to ensure the safety and security of moviegoers.

  • What accommodations are there for accessibility?

The movies will be captioned, and if you need a seat, please see a Conservancy staff member at one of our welcome tents upon arrival. There is reserved seating at the top of the lawn (on the hardscape) for people who require physical accommodations.

  • Can I bring my own chairs, or my dog? What can I bring?

No and no unfortunately. Chairs (other than wheelchairs) are not allowed on the lawn, so please bring your own blanket. Dogs are not allowed on the lawns at any time, per Park rules.

There is limited reserved seating at the top of the lawn (on the hardscape) for people who require physical accommodations. Please see a Conservancy staff member at one of our welcome tents upon arrival to inquire.

  • Where are restrooms located?

The nearest restrooms are available all night at the Pier 1 Turnaround lot, in Squibb Park and on Pier 2, as well as the Pierhouse bathrooms until 7:30 PM.

  • Where can I park my bike?

We are happy that Transportation Alternatives will once again be providing free bike valet services for moviegoers at the Pier 1 Turnaround lot off Furman Street.

  • What time is Smorgasburg at Movies With A View?

For the 2022 season, Smorgasburg vendors will be opening early at 5:00pm along the Pier 1 Promenade, before the lawn opens at 6:00pm for Movies With A View. Smorgasburg will stay open through the start of the feature film (vendors closing about 15 minutes into the film, depending on demand).

Not planning to stay for the film and just want Smorgasburg? You’re welcome to come by and enjoy!
