The Conservancy’s annual literature series returns in-person featuring four evenings curated by local, independent bookstores. 

Join us on Monday, August 16 from 7:00-8:30pm at Pier 1 Granite Prospect for our third evening of Books Beneath the Bridge with Mil Mundos Books

Featuring a Elisabet Velasquez reading from her upcoming book When We Make It (due out September 2021), Joel L. Daniels, author of Book About Things I Will Tell My Daughterand Keomi Tarver, artistic performer, teacher, and holistic healer.

The evening includes a reading, Q&A, and book signing.

About the Authors

  • About Elisabet Velasquez

      Elisabet Velasquez is a Boricua Writer from Bushwick, Brooklyn. Her work has been featured in Muzzle Magazine, Winter Tangerine, Centro Voces, Latina Magazine, We Are Mitú, Tidal, and more. She is a 2017 Poets House Fellow and the 2017 winner of Button Poetry Video Poetry Contest. Her first YA novel When We Make It debuts in September 2021.
  • About Joel L. Daniels

      Joel L. Daniels, also known as Joel Leon, is a Bronx born and raised performer, father, author and storyteller who writes and tells stories for Black people. He is a Creative Collective NYC Creative Class alumni, winner of the BCA Bronx Recognizes Its Own Award in Poetry, and author of Book About Things I Will Tell My Daughter and God Wears Durags, Too. He is repped by Folio Literary.
  • About Keomi Tarver

      San Diego native and Brooklyn transplant, Keomi Tarver is an Artistic performer, Teacher, and Holistic Healer.  She is the Founder and Master Facilitator of AbunDANCE with Keomi®, which serves a global community of teen performers, wellness enthusiasts, and corporate partners through wellness retreats, private sessions, and customized learning experiences. Her art expands and transforms ways of thinking and living and encourages her community to heal, create, live, and love abundantly. She is campaigning to impact 1000+ black girls with Black Girl Bloom performative arts program.
