Hindu Lamp Ceremony

Decorate your own palm leaf lamp and release it in the East River as part of the traditional Aarti ceremony for peace and harmony. Presented with Brooklyn Arts Council.

Event Information

Aarti Hindu Lamp Ceremony is presented by Indian dance arts educator Aeilushi Mistry. The Aarti ceremony is traditionally presented each morning and evening in order to convey gratitude and ask for protection from mother river. As we enter Hurricane season, please join us to decorate palm leaf lamps and set them assail along the East River. Audience members are also invited to join in the traditional percussion ensemble led by Paulomm which accompanies the ceremony. Guest performing artists will also present their work.
