How To Get Here

Celebrate the return of Movies with a View and our 21st season of Brooklyn’s beloved outdoor film series!

On Thursday, August 19, join us for Akeelah and the Bee (2006, Rated PG) as part of our 2021 theme “Grit” celebrating underdog stories of human resilience and perseverance. Featuring Keke Palmer, Laurence Fishburne, and Angela Bassett and directed by Doug Atchison, Akeelah and the Bee is a warm, family-friendly story about a young girl from South Los Angeles who tries to make it to the National Spelling Bee.

The evening begins with a DJ set by DJ Likwuid, brought to you by Brooklyn Radio, and a short film, The Cut, selected by BAMcinématek. Doors open and music starts at 6pm; movie begins at sundown.

Smorgasburg will provide tasty treats and drinks all evening along the Pier 1 promenade, featuring a selection of NYC’s favorite food vendors!

COVID-19 HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS

The Conservancy is excited to welcome New Yorkers back to Harbor View Lawn for our beloved Movies with a View (MWAV) series. While COVID-19 restrictions are no longer in place per State & City health guidelines, the Conservancy understands that the pandemic is not over. There is still a risk of exposure to COVID-19 in both indoor and outdoor spaces where others are present. By attending MWAV, you and your party voluntarily assume these risks as they pertain to exposure to COVID-19. If you are experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19, or suspect that you may have been exposed to COVID-19, we urge you to please stay home.

Due to recent elevated levels of COVID transmission in the NYC area, the use of masks in crowded outdoor settings that include unvaccinated individuals is highly recommended, regardless of vaccine status. We greatly encourage that everyone wear a mask while in congested areas or interacting with those outside your household, maintain social distancing whenever possible, and practice good personal hygiene. Thank you for respecting the safety needs of your fellow moviegoers.
