Event Information

Brooklyn Bridge Park and Brooklyn Arts Council present a curatorial talk with Larissa Simpson in conjunction with the exhibition, NYC Oyster Project.

Simpson will discuss the artwork in the exhibition by Colleen Flanigan and Judith Pleva, two contemporary, American artists whose work explores the theme of reef restoration both within Brooklyn and worldwide.

Inspired by Brooklyn’s native oyster reefs, NYC Oyster Project features color photographs of Colleen Flanigan’s underwater functional sculptures and an installation of Judith Pleva’s textiles and unbound multimedia scrapbook. Flanigan and Pleva’s work illuminates the beauty of marine life as well as the relationships between organisms in New York City’s waterways.

This curatorial talk will also include a presentation of the NYC Oyster Project catalogue. Q & A session will follow.

Please RSVP for this free event.
