GAME: BATSEAN MIMICRY

A lot of reptiles and amphibians act as mimics! Batesian mimicry is a form of mimicry where a harmless species has evolved to look like a posisonous species to help protect itself from predators. Can you spot the difference between the tasty mimics and the toxic unedibles?

VIRTUAL OPEN HOURS

Join us for Virtual Open Hours! October is usually our reptiles and amphibians theme during Open Hours at the Environmental Education Center. Due to COVID, this month we will bring the science fun directly to your screen! Be sure to tune in on Facebook live on Thursday, October 15 at 4:00 PM.


REPTILES & AMPHIBIANS STORYTIME WITH BROOKLYN PUBLIC LIBRARY

Join us on facebook live on Wednesday, October 21 at 11:00am ET for a very special themed storytime led by the Brooklyn Public Library. You will also hear some fun nature facts, sing songs, and learn how to make a special craft.

FALL FOLIAGE SCAVENGER HUNT

Register to participate in our Pier 1 Fall Scavenger Hunt in Brooklyn Bridge Park on either Tuesday, October 27 or Thurs, October 29! This self-guided, socially distanced, and family-friendly challenge will have you exploring the park’s woodland areas.

A PDF copy of the scavenger hunt will become publicly available after the official competition is over.
