The Pier 6 dog run opened in 2010. Brooklyn Bridge Park has determined that the dog run surface has reached the end of its useful life, and needs to be replaced. We are using this opportunity to consider various surface replacement options, including the surface currently used, pea gravel. There are pros and cons of all of the surfaces being considered, from maintenance, cost, and user perspectives (dogs and their humans!) and we will take all of these into account in the final decision.
We value the perspective and input from all Park users, and want to give our dog owner community a chance to share their thoughts. Below find more information on each surface being considered, and the related benefits and challenges of each, as well as a short survey to collect users input.
